Off to a rocky start

With my taper that is. As I mentioned in my last post, I bagged my run Tuesday morning because of lightning. I figured I could run that night or just skip it and reschedule my week. Well, things at work went CRAZY and I didn't get home until after 12:30 am. Now it is not just staying up late, but the pure intensity of working (brain going at 150% for 18 hours straight) was exhausting. Of course it is impossible for me to shut it all off right away too. So although I was in bed by 1, I was thinking (and subsequently dreaming) about it all night.

Needless to say, I was not going to get up at 4:30 or 5 to run. Plus, I really needed to get back into the office. So I got up at 6 and headed straight to the office. Fortunately, I was able to get out by 5 and run with John. It was 42 degrees, raining and super windy! So we decided to bag it at 3 miles.

I was super tired last night, but instead of going to bed early like I should have, I was up until 10:30. When my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning, I felt like I had been run over by a Mack truck. Seriously. HUGE headache, bad head cold and just plain beat. Yep, Tuesday caught up with me in full force. I did my 7 mile run (in the snow!!), but boy did I feel sluggish. The good news is it woke me up some, but I certainly am facing the harsh reality that I need to find some rest. This is NOT cutting it for the taper.

So, the mission now is to rest, go to bed early and try to do my runs a little later in the morning. Oh yeah, and get rid of this cold.

Hopefully life will cooperate!

Only 8 days away. I'm looking forward to some full-on taper madness posts! Seriously, I hope you're feeling better. The hay is in the barn. Now let's see that 3:25!
