Ah, Much Better.

So my taper started off rocky, but I ended up salvaging it by the weekend. I am feeling really good and starting to get really excited about Boston! Heh, this means I am starting to check the weather every day too. Fingers crossed.

Here are my stats for week #1 taper:

M: rest

T: unplanned rest. Got up to run and .5 miles in the sky was lighting up like the 4th of July with lightening and thunder. Decided to do arm workout and head into work instead of hitting the treadmill. Planned to run in the evening. Um, worked until midnight - no run.

W: Had to get back in early for work and there was NO WAY I was getting up at 4 am. I couldn't fall right to sleep T night and when I did, I dreamt about my work stuff the whole time. Ack. Ran 3 with my husband that evening. It was crazy windy, rainy and COLD. And I was completely spent.

R: 7 easy (9:29). Felt like I had been hit by a Mack truck when I woke up. Tuesday was definitely catching up to me / core.

F: 9 miles with intervals (1200 meters x 4; 90 sec recoveries; paces=6:48, 6:59, 6:59, 6:47). Still tired, but WAY better than Thursday / arms and core

Sa: 7 easy (8:47); HR was a bit high due to temps, but run felt great!

Su: 10 w/4 @ MP. Ran the first 5 with DH, then hit the MP on some good hills (8:02, 8:00, 7:49, 7:36). A bit overzealous at the end, but I just went with it / core

Total: 37.1

6 days and counting....

Oh yeah, and while I still have a head cold, when I woke up this morning it was decidedly better. I am hopeful I can completely kick it in the next couple of days.

You are READY!

Hey, if anything, less is more with taper so missing a run or two is no big deal at all in my opinion.
