A Bump in the Road

So I was swinging along through training and everything was coming together beautifully. Then this week I hit a minor bump in the road. I mean, things are still going well, but I am tired and a bit beat up. Unlike last week, this week my HR is high, my legs are tight, and well, I am really looking forward to a rest week next week.

Not sure if it is just training load, or if I also have a bit of a winter bug settling in, but I have been dog tired this week. Getting the workouts in, it has just been a little harder and uglier this week.

Today I didn't feel like getting out there at all. And when I did, it was wicked cold with the wind. I almost talked myself into bagging it, but I quickly reminded myself that not every run - or every week - is perfect. I need to toughen up mentally if I want to hit it as hard as I want to hit it on race day. So I did. It wasn't easy, but the miles are in the books.

This weekend will be tough as we are insanely busy and it is supposed to be pretty cold, but we are inching closer and closer to spring time and racing season. Bring it.
