I love Thanksgiving. It is my second favorite holiday (to Christmas) and that margin has always been VERY narrow. Thanksgiving has no pressures of giving or gifting. It is all about reflecting and feeling thankful. Okay, I think Thankgiving just took Christmas in my book.
We had a great day yesterday. We all got up to run the Berbee Derbee, which is the local Turkey Trot. It is very popular though, so as we got close, I dropped the boys off and parked about a mile away. BAD news was that I couldn't find them after that. I assumed they'd head for the Fleet Feet tent, but no one in the vacinity saw them. So after the 10K took off, I went to the corrals thinking they'd meet me there. I waited in the back - nothing.
So the horn went off and I took off at my own pace (6:50ish). About half mile in I ran into John and Jake - apparently they were way up front. Just under a mile, I finally located James. I patted him on the back and he said "will you run with me, Mom" - of course!!
It was a relatively challenging course, but James let me push him hard the whole way. We finished at 23:47. Nice.
Crazy enough, that was good enough for me to win 3rd place in my A/G, but James was 43rd! i guess 0-14 year old males (particularly 12-14) are substantially faster than old ladies like me! :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE that your whole family is into running and racing! Your kids are going to be kicking butt in high school!
Poor James! Was he disappointed in his placement? I'm super impressed at how fast he is.
Thanks ladies! Theia - he was not disappointed in his placement, but he was disappointed in his time. For some reason he thinks he should be able to run a 19 minute 5K (friends have told him that they can run a 17-18 minute 5K - which they CANNOT but whatever). I keep telling him that is REALLY fast - particularly for a 10 year old, but he thinks he should be faster. Fortunately, he is only 10, so he most certainly will get more faster. Oh, and I keep telling him to run some too - that will help. (He only runs races - he doesn't train).
