70 miles until taper time

That is right, Chicago is just 4 weeks away!

And I am starting to get supah excited.

I had another huge training week - I ran 80 miles. Yes, you read that right. 80. Woot! Definitely a mileage PR for me. I think I hit 81 once in a calendar week by bookending long runs, but have never run that far in an actual training week. Coolio. Although I have to tell you, I feel a little weird about it. I mean, if I am running that kind of miles, I should be a 3 hour marathoner or something. At least, right?!?! Not a 38 year-old entirely average runner seeking 73 seconds so I can finally break 3:25. But whatever, I am what I am. Which, by the way, is a bad ass because I ran 80 miles this week!!

Here's how it played out:

M: 17 miles (8:59 / 154)

T: 6.1 recovery (10:02 / 140)

W: 9.1 with 5 @ tempo (7:46; 7:25; 7:29; 7:23, 7:27)

R: 7 recovery (9:28)

F: 14.5 (8:55 / 154)

Sa: 6 easy (9:19 / 152) - it was 82 degrees and HOT!

Su: 20.2 (9:31 / 154)

Total: 80 miles

My long run was a bit hideous today because it was wicked HOT and I was feeling a bit beat up. It didn't help that I had a couple glasses of wine with my good friend last night after the funeral either. BUT, the misson for the day was just keeping the HR low and getting the miles in the books. Mission accomplished. The good news is that I feel great too - no soreness tonight.

After the run, we spent the day on the boat with friends and watched IronMan Wisconsin. Man, my iron friends rock. That is some impressive stuff.

Oh, and yesterday, my boys did IronKids. They rock.
