Woo hoo! Eugene - here we come!
I decided to bring the boys with us to Eugene in May, even if it is a bit pricey. Right now we can afford it and I think the boys would really love the trip. Plus, I have some cousins out there they haven't seen in ages, so it all just seems right. We are going on a Friday through Monday. Plane tickets are in hand and I have a suite reserved on the river! I am going to register the boys for the 5K and John is going to be our race photog. :)
FINALLY - after literally a year+, I feel like my running is starting to come around. I am still busy at work, but my runs are feeling good, my paces are dropping and my HR is in a very good place. This weekend my resting HR was around 58 - again, better numbers than I have seen in a long time. If you can't tell yet, I am starting to get excited for what's ahead.
Here is how my week shook out:
M: rest day / arms & abs
T: 5 on treadmill (8:41); last mile at goal MP
W: 10 with 4.5 @ tempo (7:35 / 8:06 average overall) / abs
R: 4 (8:46); last mile at goal MP / arms
F: 7 (8:56) / abs
Sa: 9 easy (9:10)
Su: 18 very hilly miles (9:12) / yogalates
Total: 53 miles
All of it was on the treadmill except today's long run. It was bitterly cold, but fortunately not windy. Only major snafu was when I got my R glove all wet. My fingers were tingly and screamingly painful for about 4 miles. Yikes.
Next week is a cut-back, which is probably good since I boosted up my miles this week. I was running 5 days a week, but am now up to 6 and intend to hold that pattern through my taper. I am doing the Pfitz 18/55 - but with the extra day, should hit 60 a few times - maybe more if I continue feeling so good.
Happy running!

Nice job. You're getting in more miles than me. I need to step it up!
I had to google "yogalates." I thought you were just going for a frozen treat after you long runs :-)
keep rolling Mindi!
Fun! Where are you staying? Is it on the course? I'm glad we stayed on the river last year, it made it kind of fun (though, we had a ground floor room and I could see inside around mile 18---tempting to stop in for a nap!), but it was nice to do my last couple of runs before the race on the course!
Thanks! Greg - I wish yogalates was as easy as frozen treats! :) It is very nice after a long run though to stretch out and strengthen my core.
Jen - according to Bob, we are staying at the same place you did last year. I thought it would be a convenient spot for the boys to run the 5K, come back and then cheer me on at mile 18.
I giggled when I first saw the hotel, it looks totally 70's, but it was a perfect place to stay! It was in a nice quiet spot and staying on the river was really relaxing! I wish it was a couple of weeks later, so I could be recovered enough to come out and race the 1/2!
Eugene is turning into such a great sounding trip! Great work on this week's running, do you have tune-up races planned?
