Recent Developments

The boys all ran out to get fireworks so I have some peace and quiet. Sounds like a good time to check in. First, not a fan of DIY fireworks, but whatever. The boys love it. And as long as no body parts get severed or no one suffers a Michael Jackson burn and subsequent prescription (or nonprescription) pain med addition, we should be ok. Right? (help me out here)
[Update, they just walked in and were all excited about the fireworks they got "with a guy smoking a cigarette and a guy with a machine gun - you light each up and his head blows up." They were super proud of their choices. Then Johnny shows me the "Exploding Bin Laden Noggin." Seriously, can't make this stuff up....]
Didn't get home until LATE last night, so I slept in. I was supposed to do another work function tonight (shhh), but we literally have something going on EVERY night this week. So I snuck out of work early and got a run in nice 7 mile run in 75 degree weather. No brainer. The boys are in great moods tonight and we've been havin' a blast.

I am supah excited about our upcoming mile race on Sunday. I am starting to feel things come together with all of this speed work. Added bonus, my quads are looking steeerong. Lovin it. Take that high mileage!

I ordered some cool new running gear, but it has not yet arrived. I did, however, get 2 new pairs of running shoes today. One pair are super light-weight racers. Bought them with the $100 gift card I received from Forrester Marketing for putting on a webinar. Then I got another Mizuno light-weight trainer. Thought I'd give the lighter stuff a whirl while I am doing my low mileage experiment. Haha. Of course this means I have about 10 pairs of running shoes in the front hall closet. Time to start doing some recycling.....

On another note, I am getting super busy at work, which is good. But today was the end of our fiscal year. I start over at 0 again tomorrow. :( That is always kind of a bummer. I think I need a vacation. Even if a stacation. Thankfully, we have a 3 day weekend right around the corner.....

Had fun at the Brewers game last night (sweet, win!), but I really want to get James up there for a game this summer. Time to pull out the calendar and make it happen.

Happy last day of June, peeps.
