And really need to start getting up early on the weekend to run. The thought doesn't sit well with me because the weekend is my time to rest up and sleep in, but it is getting too darn hot to wait to run until later in the day.
Today I planned to run 7 on my own, then swing back and pick up John to run 8 more. Well, I ran my 7 slow, painful miles, came home and told John he was on his own. :) Gah. That was hideous.
I feel a little bad about it, but since I decided to bag Grandma's, there is nothing I am really training for now. Why beat myself up in the heat for nothing (well, I guess providing John company isn't nothing, but you get what I mean).
Speaking of Grandma's, since I decided to bail on it, I feel a great weight has been lifted off of me. Had a lot more time this weekend to spend with my family and I didn't have as much stress going on. I definitely made the right choice.
I may or may not run the Madison Half next weekend. I have not signed up yet and if it looks like it is going to be hot, I will skip the $75 registration fee and will just go spectate. I plan to start finding some smaller local races and get out there and have some fun though. And, of course, it is time to register for my Miler in Training with the boys to get ready for the Capitol Mile. Then, I'll start training for Chicago.
For now, I am enjoying a *relatively* schedule-free couple of weeks.
Cheers.
