I also decided to be completely insane and sign up for the Chicago marathon. Seems premature now, but I don't want to wait until it is sold out to want to do it. It is a great course, on a great date (10.10.10) and I know a lot of people going. Plus, Chicago is a very convenient trip for me - definitely one of the closest fall races!
Week Recap:
M: rest
T: rest (had early morning presentation - no time to run!)
W: 7 [9:08] on treadmill / arms and core
R: 9.2 miles with 3 x 10 mins @ tempo with 2 min recoveries (paces: 7:35, 7:25, 7:25) on relatively hilly route / core
F: 7 easy w/ 5 striders (9:24) - It was VERY cold. Didn't have the right base layer on, so despite 1 thick shirt and 2 jackets, I was FREEZING.
Sa: 9.2 miles w/4 progressive (MP-tempo)(7:58, 7:49, 7:41, 7:30) - again on a hilly route (hey, this is Boston I'm training for!) - weather was actually nice - mid 30s with very little wind / arms and core
Su: 14 miles (9:04) hilly route, but HR was nice and low. Ridiculously cold thanks to the wind despite 30 degree temps.
Total: 46.4

This week will be a little higher mileage. It is ugly cold here though in the mornings, and snowy. D@mn winter. I am definitely ready for spring!

kickrunners, huh? I registered during the CR breakup but ended up at runningahead when the low heart rate dudes were there. I stopped doing LHR and occasionally post at RA (with mixed results). I just looked at kickrunners and found an old-fashioned CR-style marathon training thread moderated by Mindi herself!
Makes me want to do a spring marathon.
Ha, yeah, I just went back there about 6 months ago. Come join us - time for you to get back on that marathon horse. :)
