And the winner is . . .

Greg! Thank God. As he previously posted, "I'm beginning to think the whole "crazy truck" thing is a trick to attract readers :-) It's a mystery! I'm on the edge of my seat. I believe (and hope) the answer is boring. My version of Occam's razor -- that which is most boring is probably true."

And so I guess it is. I saw the truck again on Thursday early morning during my run. This time, it was travelling at a more normal pace. I was about a mile from home, so I swung back in that direction after I saw it briefly stopped on the side road. Sure enough, the truck followed (one street up). I was thinking, maybe this person is actually delivering papers as I saw some in his aftermath. So I tried to head back to my neighborhood to see if I could see what was going on. Everything seemed fine, but then I was running up my own street (on the RIGHT side which is atypical for me) and this guy was in the middle of the road/almost on my side brushing past me. Now the glory of my town is small, yet very WIDE roads. Lurky trucks turning into brushing too close - not cool. So, I whipped out the iPhone and called 911. I was seriously annoyed that they wanted all the same info; LP # - hello - I am out running, I figured you may have taken a note or 2. The good news, was that I decided to continue up my road to check things out. Less than 3 minutes later, a squad car pulls up and asks if I am Mindi. Why yes. He says they have received numerous complaints about this truck, but it is registered to a guy who is married to a local paper delivery lady. Apparently she can't do it, so he is filling in. Cool, but I explain the 3-4 mph deal and stopping at random points, "yeah, that has been reported, but apparently he calls her to see where he goes next." OK. I carry on and a mile or 2 later (gotta love the small town), cop drive by and says "Mindi, we talked to him and he is delivering papers." Cool. So he must have been slow on the uptake re route, now getting it.

BUT, Not to be a paranoid one (which I know I sound like), I still wanted to take my phone this morning. You know that "not right" felling. Sure enough, I saw him this am sitting in a new spot a good 2 miles from my place. Typically I always saw this dude within .3 of my house. Ran along thinking I was delusional. Saw papers were delivered in the area. A few minutes later, said truck rolls by. Again, paranoia? Maybe, but this dude has gotten under my skin. D@mmit. I hope it is incompentency as the PD seems to think. :( It still doesn't add up to me, but I am glad there is an explanation. Maybe my heebee geebee guage is just off? But I am instinctual one, so you'll have to deal with my idiosycrycies.

In better news, I am feeling great. Reduced mileage is good. But life is in full throttle. My Dad is in the hospital (hopefully to recover in a few days) and everyone else is trying to pull me in every direction. TGIF. Downside is F*&$% crazy truck dude ruining the bit of solitude I have! I need that every day! :) I need my morning solitude!

On a great note, my boys ROCK. We had a fun movie night and are planning lots of fun activities for the weekend, including skiing and roller skating! Neither of which I have done in almost 20 years!!!

I know what you mean about instincts, I trust mine more than anything. Glad there's some explanation, maybe this dude is the world's WORST & most oblivious pd fill-in too. Next time tap on his window and ask when his wife is back to do the job ;)

Continued vibes out to your dad!

I know this sounds crazy, but could you talk to the truck guy. Now that you know what's going on and the police are aware of him it would be safe I think. Maybe it would assuage your fears to know the guy and it never hurts to have someone to wave to when you're out on a run. I bet just talking to him and seeing that he is a normal person would make you feel a million times better.

Honestly, I think it's the people who don't stand out that we really have to worry about. A real predator knows how to prowl without getting your attention.

All that being said, I don't think you were being paranoid or out of line at all. But, now that the mystery's solved it's time to get that solitude feeling back!
