Yeah, I know I am always talking about how great my kids are. But that is because they are!!
This morning, they got up bright and early with me (just before 6:00 am) to do a speed workout. We missed our workout on Tuesday night because it was so hot and we all agreed we'd get up early Saturday morning to do it.
That meant no sleepover last night (which is a big deal) and we all went to bed a little early.
It was already 80 degrees, full sun and wicked humid when we went outside at 6:30. My friend Michelle joined us, and we set off for one hard workout. Here is what we did:
1 mile easy warm upIt was hard. Really hard. We were soaked with sweat and were were working. I had marked our 400 "course" with sidewalk chalk and we basically did our 400s up and down my street. It must have looked awfully funny seeing the four of us out there doing butt kicks and blasting and up and down the street.
2 sets of butt kicks, high knees and small steps
1 mile easy with 4 pickups
4 x 400 at mile pace with 76 second recoveries
8ish minute rest
4 x 400 at mile pace with 76 second recoveries.
Cool down.
Needless to say, it was a great workout and I am so proud of my boys. Not many 9 and 10 year old boys would get up early on a Saturday morning, get their sweat on and get it done like that.
We are all showered up now and getting ready to go out for a nice family breakfast.
Happy Saturday!

You're boys ARE awesome! I love hearing about them! So fun that you are all able to run together. You are a great role model to them! And it won't be long before they are flying past you! :-)
It won't be long! In fact, I am surprised James hasn't started beating me yet. Although I am not complaining - I relish the fact that I still hold the title as the fastest person in the family right now! :)
