Time to Salvage this Week

So of course by the end of the day yesterday I felt super guilty skipping my run. Especially as I indulged in that extra glass of red and scrumptious salmon at Texas Roadhouse.

I am just not that good at rolling with the punches. I know how this stuff works, and that missing workouts is not a big deal. BUT, I missed a 10+ mile MP workout. I knew I'd likely bag the MP miles due to how I was feeling, but I didn't want to end my week 10 miles under schedule. I am very, very OCD like that.

This morning, I woke up incredibly sore. Not hurt sore, but every muscle in my hamstring/glutes area was barking. Very frustrating given that I took Friday off. But I was determined to get a decent run in, and I knew today was much better scheduling-wise to try for a long run. Well, when I was ready to go it was 7 degrees, howly wind, and "feels like" -10. Yeah, no thank you. So I threw on shorts and a tank top and hit the treadmill.

I am not a fan of the treadmill, but my face is already so ripped up from the winds during my last few runs. Plus it was nice to have unlimited water, etc. I recently got an iPad and an iPad cupholder that fits into the treadmill cupholder. Let's just say thank you iPad plus Netflix. I watched Spirit of the Marathon and then some of Dazed and Confused. Haha, yeah, very different.

My long run was scheduled at 2 hours this week, but I decided to bump it up to 2.5 to compensate somewhat for my slacking yesterday. So I was able to get in just over 17. Felt good to be able to accomplish such a long run on the treadmill. I know it was easier without the wind, cold, hills, etc., but it was a feat in itself for me. :)

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow - depends on how the old legs react. I am hoping to get at least 8 though so I can break 50 mpw. That would put me just a couple miles under schedule for the week.

Onward and upward.
