Good news. I wrote up two new training schedules this weekend.
Over the next 8 weeks, I will have light-ish mileage, some nice quality, and some fun 5Ks, which I often tend to skip while in recovery mode at this time of the year. Should be fun to mix it up with shorter, faster workouts.
In January, I will then ease into training for the Wisconsin Marathon. Woot - I received confirmation of my entry today! As currently written, I am planning for some high mileage. That may change, however, if work gets really hectic. For now, it seems doable though.

I was reading a post on KR today and several celebrity marathon times were listed. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was among them with a 3:11 marathon. That is pretty impressive - particularly for "celebrity" marathon times. Out of curiosity, I did a couple Google searches and found an excerpt from his book, "My Grandfather's Son," where he discusses his marathon experience. It was notable given he clearly did not have any direction in training. He just started running and adding a couple more minutes each day. By the end of training, he was running over 10 miles a day. Certainly not the contemporary method of marathon training. Oh, and that 3:11? That is after he bombed and hit the wall. Not too shabby for a bombed race. He also mentioned some wicked chaffing. [Yeah, thank you Body Glide(r)].
Anyway, onto the part I really liked. When comparing marathoning to the posturing of politics, he made the following quote:
...the pain of individual effort is part of the price you pay for
achievement.
Word, Clarence Thomas.
