I haven't slept well this week at all. A WHOLE lot going on personally with our family. Stressful stuff, not all negative - just hard.
Add in school orientations, first day of school, Johnny gone half the week, that thing called work, and, oh yeah - intense training! It has been a bit of a whirlwind, both mentally and physically.
John got in super late last night, so I waited up to see him. So nice to have him back, yet I still tossed and turned all night. I got up just after 5 for my run, but didn't get out the door until almost 6. It was almost 80 degrees and crazy humid, but I started the one foot in front of the other deal and off I went.
It was awesome.
20ish minutes into my run, I realized how relaxed and happy I was to be out there. And then I realized I have been in a sweet little grove for several weeks with all of my runs. Usually at peak training, I am tired, beat up and kind of dragging my butt out there to get it done. While I admit I am fleeping tired (and had to drag my butt out there to get it done this am) I have been LOVING my runs lately. Every time I have less than 10 miles in the last 3 weeks, I honestly feel a bit disappointed that I have to turn it in so soon. Weird. I am doing the newer edition Pfitz 12/70 program and it is very aggressive (4 runs per week in double digits). But it is crazy that I have so mentally acclimated to getting out there for the long haul. Good stuff. Frankly, who knows how it will translate on race day, but I am very optimistic and I am loving my training.
I should also admit that I am truly enjoying these nice fallish temps. Some mornings it is in the 50s. Sometimes the 70s. Even when crazy humid though, it has all finally been manageable. This summer was brutal. And I feel like we have gotten over the hump. Hopefully the brutality summer inflicted will add some valuable arrows to my quiver for Chicago.

I haven't seen the newer pfitz 12/70. Can you email it to me?
I am SO happy to hear you are loving your runs. That's what I was like last training cycle too - I think out of the 70+ runs, I only disliked 2 of them! Yeah, you!
