Alright, so the few folks who follow my blog have already seen this pic on Facebook probably, but it is fun nonetheless so there you go. :)
Yeah, I have been slacking at the blogging lately. Slacking somewhat at the running lately too. But I am having fun and keeping busy. Very busy. And productive. Good things.
I started miler training last week and was SORE for several days. Had a big workout in the heat last night with little resulting soreness. So I am going to try to add in a second speed workout Friday. Yay!
Next week I plan to try to bump it into full speed work training. My problem historically is: (1) it takes its toll as I am getting older and I am too sore to maintain; because (2) it is hard to sustain speed work with high mileage. I am hoping that my minimizing #2, I'll be able to manage #1.
We'll see.
In the meantime, it's been a fun summer so far with the kids. We've certainly had some crazy moments, but they are also finding their freedom and roaming the neighborhood with their friends. It is fun. But tonight while John was at band practice and I was sitting alone, I sure missed them!! Funny how that works.
But I am so proud of them both. And they have been having fun at our Tuesday night track workouts too. James is a little competitor! Love to see it given he doesn't put that effort in at school (we're working on that) or any other sport. The natural sport competitive instinct is there with running, even though he is young for his class. I like it. And I like to think he got that from his momma! ;) Most importantly, I know it provides him with a source of pride and self confidence - something every child needs - from whatever source it may be. Ooh - and did I mention we signed them up for sailing lessons? How fun?!?!
