- 2 solid marathons, including an 18 second PR! Illinois: 3:27:40; Chicago: 3:26:12.
- Met some great new running friends.
- Was able to manage adding almost 500 miles over my 2008 numbers without being too exhausted or putting too much strain on my family.
- Ran 2 5Ks with my 8 year-old son; one with all of my boys!
- Got all the wheels in motion to start a Girls on the Run program in my hometown.
- I got a new road bike.
- I won a ROCK!
Wrong:
- Fell apart at several races, including my favorite: the Capitol Mile. But the Tyranena Beer Run and Belleville 10K were also REALLY ugly.
- Had a hard time sticking to my schedule due to nagging aches and pains.
- Entered my first ever bike race with my son, which ended with a big crash.
So where do I go from here? Well, I now have a coach for my winter training, which will lead up to the 2010 Boston Marathon. It will be my 10th marathon. Training is going okay, but not great. I am ridiculously slow and have nagging aches and pains. The good news is that the nagging aches and pains seem to be diminishing (fingers crossed, knocking on wood). Perhaps it is all the treadmill running (softer surface). With the sub-zero temps this week/weekend, it looks like I will log all 50 miles this week on the hamster wheel. Crazy. I just put up some race posters and my bulletin board with bib numbers/medals right next to the TM. Hopefully that will give me some motivation. Speaking of which, time to stop delaying the inevitable and go get on that treadmill.
Happy 2nd day of 2010.

Happy New Year! Looks like a sweet setup with the treadmill. Mine is in the kids' room (read: disaster area).
Solid Year in 2009!
And a new and exciting look to the blog for 2010.
Can't wait to see what 2010 brings for you!
