One week until Mad City Marathon

One week to go! Yikes!

Here is my week in review:

M&T - Nada - I was a complete slave to work (think billing by 6:00 am, not leaving until after 1:00 am, repeat). Crazy.
W - 8 (9:21)
R - rest
F - 5.64 (9:27)
Sa - 4.9 (9:25)
Su - 12.1 (8:45)

Total: 30.7 miles

Now I rest, recover and hope for good weather Sunday!

The southern end of the course looks like the mad city 100k course. Since you've run that before, I think your experience will overcome any lack of training and I predict a big PR :-)

Good eyes. The southern end is the University of Wisconsin Arboretum. And that is the section that scares me the most! It is a very popular spot for 10Ks, but is very hilly and for some reason there are usually wicked winds off the lake when I run it. I am working my mental focus on that this week!!

No PR in the works - I am not even attempting that. I am just not in shape. But I probably won't lolligag with the 3:50 group the whole time if I feel good. My current races point to a 3:35. I am thinking I will start with the 3:50s and continually move on up. However, the weather report is getting worse by the day, so we'll see. I don't do well in heat.

Negative splits are good for the soul :)

Good luck and have fun!

I am going to echo Kel: negative splits are good for the soul (and the soles . . . I have never managed to negative split a marathon, but I hear the recovery goes much more smoothly for those that do!).

Your week looks solid :)
